"I’m giving Premier Radiation Oncology Associates my highest rating because their doctors and staff were above and beyond my expectations (especially considering what I went through with other facilities for the next 1.5 years dealing with cancer and its side effects).My advice to others who need chemo and radiation treatments would be to choose a place like PROA for your provider. Ask questions and listen for answers, take notes, bring your health care surrogate or a friend to be with you and listen. Ask about ALL possible side effects even if they are rare. I had no idea that radiation can cause weakness in bones or exacerbate osteopenia.I had some expected side effects with radiation with some diarrhea, but having some lower back issues already, I had no idea the radiation made my bones even weaker - so much so, I broke the bones in my lower back without knowing it.I looked up how and where these breaks could happen and got my answer. The chemo and radiation killed the four tiny spots near the area around where my hysterectomy had been, but weakened my lower spine and tailbone so much that when I collapsed in my bathroom at home I broke my tailbone (sacrum) which cannot be fixed and cracked a disk in the L4-5 area that had to have surgery. I could no longer walk on my own and had to do about six months of physical therapy (in patient) at several different locations! Believe it or not, I am still in PT and need to use two canes to help me walk and stay balanced!This doesn’t change my rating for PROA at all but to warn what others may go through. …and believe it or not, I did not have very many side effects from my whole journey. Plus I would like to recommend not only PROA and its staff but give special thanks to Dr Tagrid Altoos - the best, smartest, sweetest and knowledgeable doctor of all that I’ve had on my long trip!!!…and have a talented family who can paint a bald head if necessary!!!"

"The care that this amazing group provides is beyond medical. It is care for who you are and how you are in everyway. Nobody wants to go to an Oncology group, but if you have to go this is the place. Their care for my mother was quite simply the best of a bad situation. I have never seen a more positive group of doctors or staff."
"Next level care - My dad was seen by Dr. Brooks for lung cancer. Dad was a Vietnam Veteran suffering from serious heath issues from exposure to Agent Orange. He had VA and Medicare HMO insurance which made getting approval for treatment complicated. When I phoned with questions, Dr. Brooks returned my call himself and patiently explained everything. Dad had to cancel his 1st treatment appointment due to heart issues. Dr. Brooks called to check on him and reassured him that his cancer would still be treatable whenever his heart issues improved. This was a tremendous comfort to my dad and our family. My dad died a few weeks later from heart issues having never been able to begin his cancer treatment. He had the same PCP for 30 years, the same cardiologists for 15 and 25 years. They were great doctors who provided excellent care. We received nice cards from their offices. Dr. Brooks was the only doctor who personally called me with his condolences. He had seen my dad twice. TWICE. Dr. Brooks is next level."

"My first experience was when my mom was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer that went internally.We met Dr. Altoos and our first impression was she is so friendly, attentively listened to our concerns and explained everything so we could understand.My mom had undergone many treatments for four different areas and while she was going I had my second experience when I had breast cancer in my right breast. Mom and I went together for treatments. My mom and I felt that Dr. Altoos and all the office staff, technicians and nurses and the insurance staff are our family. "I recently underwent 4 weeks of Radiation Therapy at Premier Radiation Oncology Associates office as a treatment following surgical removal of Breast Cancer. The radiation therapy was better than I had expected. Michael Gauwitz, MD, each of the radiation therapists, nurses, and staff members, were consistently knowledgeable, kind and caring to both me and my daughter. Each of the 20 treatments was administered efficiently and effectively. The wait time for each treatment was extremely short. "My dermatologist recommended Premier Radiation Oncology for a stubborn melanoma on my leg. The office on McMullen Booth Road was conveniently located 10 minutes from my house. I called for an appointment and was greeted warmly on the phone by the staff. I was given a variety of appointment options and selected the time most convenient for me. On my first day of arrival, I waited no more than 5 minutes before I was escorted to a private room for a Q & A session with La'Shon Green, RN. She answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable with my decision to see Dr. Michael Gauwitz at Premier Radiation. The doctor spent another 20 minutes describing the six week procedure I was to start the following week. He assured me that my case was in good hands and that the six weeks would fly by.The following Monday, the treatments began. My appointment was at 10 each Monday through Friday for six weeks. I loved knowing well in advance what days I should block on my calendar for these treatments. Over the next 30 sessions, I would arrive on time, or early, and I never waited more than 6 or 7 minutes in the waiting room for my treatment. In this office, they respect their patients and realize our time in also valuable.The technicians that set up the radiation treatment were also fabulous to work with. They were friendly, curious, professional and genuinely cared about my health. And, after each 2 minute, pain-free treatment they would thank me for coming in and tell me they looked forward to seeing me the next day.On a scale of one to ten, this medical facility and staff are at the top of my list with a 10+.
